About Cora
Cora grew up in the small town of Wilson Kansas. Wilson did not have much in the way of artistic outlets, but what it could offer she found a way to get involved. Cora started singing with her local church choir and fell in love with it. From there, she began auditioning for her aunt’s plays and musicals, as well as, ballet classes. Both Cora’s mother and sister were fantastic pianists and she would enjoy dancing to the tunes they would play. Soon, Cora found herself sitting at the bench of their out-of-tune red piano and started plunking out random melodies, regardless of their quality.
At the age of 12, Cora began taking piano lessons herself. She loved playing, but most of all she loved taking her practice material and arranging it into something more interesting. When Cora was 16, she took her first voice lesson. It wasn’t until Cora attended Barton Community College that she was able to explore the arts further. While working on her Associate’s Degree in the Performing Arts, Cora was a part of both choirs her college offered. She was also able to start her musical journey of learning music theory and composition. After graduation, Cora moved to Billings Montana to follow a different career path.
Along with the Arts, Cora also possessed a passion for animals. For the first 5 years after her move, Cora worked with animals, studying behavior and grooming. During this time, Cora met her husband, Nathan, and started a family with him and their furbabies. Although Cora loved working with animals, the arts kept calling to her. She enrolled at Montana State University Billings and reinitiated chasing her musical dreams again. During her time at school, Cora continued her vocal training, performing in as many choirs as she could, and learning composition. Outside of school, Cora took up playing the cello as well and is singing with the Billings Symphony Chorale. Cora hopes to one day work in Film, composing beautiful scores that showcase the depth and complexity behind the silver screen.
Beyond music, Cora enjoys spending her free time writing stories, baking, hiking, spending time with her husband and friends, and taking care of her furbabies - Pixel the Cat and Ajax the Sheltie.
